Eligibility

For new students studying on the MA Archaeology and Heritage course.

This scholarship will be awarded based on:

  • academic and/or professional record and
  • a scholarship statement of no more than 500 words, as judged by members of the Institute
  • 2 letters of reference.

The scholarship statement should briefly outline how applicants hope to use their MA and include proposed dissertation topic if known. Statements which relate to the Institute themes, listed below, are particularly welcomed.

The Carena Institute of Sustainable Archaeologies priority themes:

  • Building New Legacies: Community-Centered approaches to Archaeology and Heritage.
  • Dealing with Legacy Data: Critical Approaches to Archaeological Archives, including Digital and Creative Engagements.
  • Studying Destructive Legacies: Critical Approaches to Conflict and Post-Conflict Heritage.
  • Engaging critically with Histories of Archaeology, to recognise the social and economic role of archaeology in the global long term.
