Public engagement and knowledge exchange

Birkbeck is committed to sharing our research in order to shape public understanding and the common good.

Birkbeck is a place where we connect, collaborate, challenge received wisdom and build on the expertise of life and work, as well as 'official' knowledge. We see public engagement as at the heart of our values and as a core part of our research, enabling us to interact with a wide and diverse range of people for the betterment of our research and our researchers.

In our knowledge exchange, we seek to engage stakeholders in a two-way dialogue whereby expertise, best practices and new ideas are shared in both directions. We aim to find ways to mobilise our research to drive innovation and improvement and are expanding our range of collaborations both in London and beyond. These collaborations are as diverse as our research is and may include providing academic consultancy, contract research, industry partnerships, short courses, continuing professional development, executive education, student placements and work with communities. The Innovation Support Unit provides expertise on these diverse collaborations and your Research Impact and Knowledge Exchange Manager should be your first point of contact.
