Overview
The Decarbonise Your Business and Achieve Net Zero short course provides you with a comprehensive understanding of how to measure, analyse and reduce your organisation’s carbon footprint and achieve net zero emissions. You will learn how to effectively influence colleagues and stakeholders to adopt greener practices by communicating sustainability insights with impact.
You will develop confidence in aligning business practices with national and global sustainability goals and may go on to lead sustainability efforts within your organisation.
You will gain an understanding of:
- the impact of climate change on businesses
- how to measure and reduce an organisation's carbon footprint
- strategies for achieving net zero emissions
- UK legislation and incentives for carbon reduction.
The Decarbonise Your Business and Achieve Net Zero course is well suited for those wishing to enhance their knowledge on sustainable practices within business and contribute towards achieving net zero objectives. The course focuses particularly on sustainability managers from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) but we also recommend this course to participants from larger organisations wishing to understand their organisation's carbon emissions.
This course is accredited by The Carbon Literacy Trust, and you will receive a Carbon Literacy Certificate upon completion of the course to demonstrate your achievement. Carbon Literacy is viewed as a highly desirable asset to many employers.
You will also receive a Birkbeck certificate of participation upon completion of the course.
This course is non-credit bearing, so carries no credit points.

Most of our short courses have no formal entry requirements and are open to all students.
This short course has no prerequisites.
As part of the enrolment process, you may be required to submit a copy of a suitable form of ID.
International students who wish to come to the UK to study a short course can apply for a Visitor visa. Please note that it is not possible to obtain a Student visa to study a short course.
